In this drawing lesson, you will learn from basics to advanced hand drawing. We have three types of hands to draw in this article. We have combined holding hands drawing and hand line art in this drawing guide, and then we have also included a realistic hand drawing and a simple hand drawing in one lesson. It will help you learn hand drawing step by step in each tutorial. If you are a beginner and want to learn easy hand drawing, this tutorial is for you. If you have already tried a hand sketch and want to move to the next level. Then this tutorial can make hand drawing easy for you.
Tips for Hand Drawing
Drawing a hand is considered to be the hardest body part to draw. But here are some tips that can help you to draw hands easily.
Don’t try to make the basic structure of all fingers the same in shape and size, as all fingers have a different point of origin and have different shapes and sizes.
Consider your fingers’ natural rotation ability and apply only that much rotation in fingers while drawing a hand gesture.
Think of the basic differences in the hands of different genders or ages. For example, a man’s hand is usually thick in its structure, nails wide and small. On the other hand, a woman’s hand has thin anatomy and features. The fingers are generally long with long nails. Wrists of a woman will be thin as well. Hairs of hands can also be the difference for both genders. A child’s hand would be thick and bulky in a small size.
Think of all fingers individual objects to draw that are attached to the same base.

Hand Line Art Step by Step Tutorial
Let’s start with the simplest one. It’s a tutorial for a simple line drawing of a hand. Keep in mind the tips as this is a man’s hand drawing.
Step 1:
Start with a line moving upward in the shape of a curve and then make a u-turn. It will be the thumb of the hand—figure 1.
Step 2:
Start from the u-turn after the previous step, draw a sharp bend and take the line back upward. Extend this line a bit more than the previous u-turn of the thumb. Then make a sharp bend and take it back below the start of the previous line and thumb origin. In between this line, draw small palm lines that naturally help us bend or rotate our fingers—Figure 2.
Step 3:
Now, start from the higher bend, extend it upward, and then an immediate u-turn. Take it rightward below near and then go back and make another higher u-turn. These are pinky and ring fingers. Draw irregular shapes like nails on both of these fingers—Figure 3.
Step 4:
Draw a third higher u-turn by repeating the process where we left in the previous step. Draw a nail on it just like before. Now you can see a thumb, side perspective of the palm, and three fingers of the hand, ending at the middle finger—Figure 4.
Step 5:
From the highest index finger drawn, draw the line below and outline the other side of the hand. Draw a small bend to represent the index finger—Figure 5.
Cool Hand Drawing with a Butterfly Step by Step Tutorial
Let’s start with this cool drawing idea of a hand with a butterfly. The hand is of a woman, so you should know from the tips how we will draw the structure of the hand.
Step 1:
Start from the right side and draw a hump and then extend it leftward. In the end, make a u-turn and draw a long nail that looks going further than the u-turn. There you have a thumb of the hand and the side perspective of the palm—Figure 1.
Step 2:
Start a line from the thumb’s nail, take it a bit more leftward, and then make a bend. Draw a thin nail originating from the fingertip of the index finger. Take this line straight until you are parallel to the origin of the thumb, then bend it a bit upward. Take it rightward parallel to the palm line and make a hump like the way we started drawing in the previous step—Figure 2.
Step 3:
Draw middle and ring finger originating behind from the thumb. Draw the nails in the same way as in the previous step. Make ring finger smaller than the index finger—Figure 3.
Step 4:
Draw the pinky finger beside the ring finger. But it will be a bit smaller—Figure 5.
Step 5:
Draw One side or wings of the butterfly in the shape of a rough shape above the fingers—Figure 5.
Step 6:
Draw a lot of bends in and extend their lines down on the butterfly wing. Draw a small circle near the top outline, and then Draw the body of the butterfly with a small thick shape on the base of the wings.—Figure 6.
Step 7:
Draw the other side wings of the butterfly. The second wing drawn should be hidden behind the first wing—Figure 7.
Step 8:
Draw small circles in the second wing just like the previously drawn circles in the other wing. Then highlight the upper parts of the wings with small circles. Apply dark shades in those parts and a but light shade near the body of the butterfly. Draw two long antennas on the head of the butterfly—Figure 8.
Step 9:
In the last step, make the outline of the hand darker. Apply dark shades to the nails as well. Apply light shade on the fingers and other parts of the hand—Figure 9.
There you have a beautiful hand drawing with a butterfly.
Holding Hands Drawing Step by Step Tutorial
In this tutorial, you’ll learn to draw both hands of a woman. Who is holding one hand in the other in an aesthetic way?
Step 1:
Start from the top and draw a line in the shape of a curve going downward. Make an oval shape nail at the end of the line. This will be the thumb of the hand. Start another line below the starting point from the previous line and take it below the previous line, drawing a nail in the same way. This will be the index finger. Repeat the process two more times, creating the middle finger and the ring finger—Figure 1.
Step 2:
Repeat the process of the previous step to make the pinky finger of the first hand. Draw another finger structure with a line and the nail below horizontally, which will be the other hand’s thumb—Figure 2.
Step 3:
Draw three fingers behind each other with nails at the end. Do this by drawing three lines that are inverted L-shaped—Figure 3.
Step 4:
Draw the pinky finger at the end behind the ring finger and draw it smaller. Now is the time to start drawing the other parts of the fingers. Start from the very first thumb. Draw a line for the thumb parallel to the previously drawn line of the thumb and join it on the nail. Draw the origin of the index finger and the thumb in an inverted v shape—Figure 4.
Step 5:
Draw the other parallel lines of all the other fingers of the first hand. Then do the same for the second hand that is holding the first hand on its palm. Remember, you have to make the nails come out of the fingertips and be longer than the original length of the fingers—Figure 5.
Step 6:
Draw two parallel lines emerging behind the thumb of the first hand, the wrist of the hand holding the second hand. Draw the wrist of the second hand by drawing two parallel lines. One of those lines will be joining with the first hand’s wrist.
Step 7:
In the last step, draw small lines on the joints of the fingers, enhancing the features of the fingers. Those lines on the finger joints are made from bending the fingers.
There you have beautiful holding hands drawing.
