Some dog species have a sense of smell so strong that they are used in the army as mines detectors. Just like the sense of smell, their sense of hearing is incredible as well. Moreover, most of the dog species are fantastic swimmers. When it comes to being fast, a greyhound dog can run faster than cheetahs. You might be amazed to know that dogs produce sweat through paws and tongues and can be right or left pawed. Cartoon Dog Drawing Step By Step Tutorial
In this tutorial, we’ll learn cartoon dog drawing.
Step 1:
To draw this cartoon dog, we will start with the left ear. Draw the left ear in the shape of a long curved bend. Then from the upper line of the ear, draw the headline and extend it towards the right. After extending the headline, reasonably make a bend downwards and then make another bend leftwards. Then draw a curve in the shape of the upper jawline of the mouth—Figure 1.
Step 2:
After drawing the upper jawline, draw the lower jawline in a curve shape and join it with the left ear. Then draw the right ear behind the top of the head and draw both eyes in an oval shape. After that, draw two small circles inside each other in each eye. Draw eyebrows in the shape of small curves above both eyes. Draw a nose above the mouth in an irregular shape—Figure 2.
Step 3:
After completing the dog’s face, start a line from below the left ear and extend it in the shape of a downward going curve. Draw a tail with two parallel lines starting from the back and joining each other in the shape of a bend at the end. Then use the same technique to draw the front leg. But bend those lines together downward and join them with three u-shaped bends to represent the foot. Figure 3.
Step 4:
After drawing one front leg, draw the second foot by drawing an oval shape and then three u-shaped bends in it. Draw two curves behind the front foot vertically. It’s the rear leg. Then draw foot with the same technique of drawing an oval shape and three u-shaped bends in Figure 4.
Step 5:
After completing the outline of the dog’s cartoon, draw two steep hills or pillow-type structures below the dog—Figure 5.
Step 6:
In this step, highlight the outline of the whole drawing with a marker or pointer. Then darken the dog’s eyes and the nose as well—Figure 6.
In this final step, apply shades on the drawing with gentle pencil pressure—Figure 7.
Congratulations! You’ve just learned a dog cartoon drawing.
Let’s start with this drawing of a dog.
Step By Step Tutorial on How to Draw a Dog
Step 1:
Draw a curve tilted slightly below the left side. It is the headline of the dog. Draw triangular structures on both ends of the head to represent ears—figure 1.
Step 2:
After drawing the headline and ears, draw another line below the left ear after bending it a bit at the start. This is the back of the dog. From the right ear, make an oval shape to represent the jaw of the dog. Draw another parallel line with a bend in the middle above the jawline—Figure 2.
Step 3:
After drawing the mouth, Draw a triangular nose above the mouth and then two circular eyes above it—Figure 3.
Step 4:
After outlining the face, Draw outlines on the eyes and nose to enhance the structure of the dog’s face. Draw one line from the left eye and extend it below the neck. Draw another line below the mouth from the left side and take it near the line on the left side—Figure 4.
Step 5:
It’s time to enhance the features of our drawing. Use a pencil to blend in the eyes and eyebrows above. Then draw nostrils of the nose with a vertical line between—Figure 5.
Step 6:
Blend the circles around the eyeballs with realistic-looking shade. Do the same on the nose of the dog—Figure 6.
Step 7:
Start blending the face on the right side of the face, between the eyes and the mouth—Figure 7.
Step 8:
Apply shade on the left ear and the rest of the face. Repeat the process on the neck made from two curves. These blends look like hair on the face—Figure 8.
Step 9:
Blend the left side of the face with the neck with the same method as used in previous steps. Drawing small hairy textures and then applying shades will give the drawing a realistic look—Figure 9.
Step 10:
Draw hair-like textures on the rest of the face, neck, and body. Apply shades on the body as well—Figure 10.
Step 11:
Draw hair textures in the left ear as well. Enhance the details by applying shades—Figure 11.
There you have a cute puppy drawing.

Step 2:
Draw a line near the left side of the outline drawn in the previous step. Draw a semi triangular shape nose at the end of it below. Start a line from the left side of the nose, extend it below a bit, and then extend it rightward in the shape of the upper jaw—Figure 2.
Step 3:
Draw a line below the upper jaw on the left side and extend it in the shape of the lower jaw with teeth on one side. Then draw the tongue flowing out of the mouth with two parallel lines and join them at the end. Draw a line in the middle of the tongue to enhance the tongue’s structure—Figure 3.
Step 4:
After drawing the face outline, draw the inner outline of the hair just like a real husky. Do it by drawing the inner headline with three bends on the top and extending it below on the right side. Draw an ear-opening in the right ear with an irregular shape. Then draw a small line in the left ear. Draw two nostrils on the nose and a vertical line between them—Figure 4.
Step 5:
Draw Both eyes with oval shapes and two circles in each representing the eyeballs. Then draw small vertical lines on the neck of the dog—Figure 5.
Step 6:
In the final step, start shading the face with hair-like lines. Darken the outline of the ears, ears, and the mouth’s inner side, and darken the nose and draw small dots on both sides of the nose—Figure 6.
